HERE'S THE STORY:
Well, we're at it again. Countless hours spent pedaling our bikes aimlessly so that each of us MIGHT cover 104 miles of trails in the mountains surrounding Leadville, CO just a BIT faster than last year! Clearly a fool's mission and we're just the fools for the job. While we take great personal satisfaction from our trivial advancements on our bikes, we take even greater pride in our contribution to the First Descents cancer foundation. When you think First Descents, think American Cancer Society meets Outward Bound meets Make-A-Wish. It is unique, empowering, life-affirming and it NEEDS YOUR MONEY!
In 2009, First Descents hosted 9 week-long outdoor-adventure programs for over 150 young adults with cancer. In 2010, we have committed to 15 camps for over 225 young adults with cancer. We want to serve 1000 campers per year by 2015. Please help us get there.
Many of you know that First Descents likes to give away great Swag. Below is a list of the various donation levels and the cool stuff you can get by just reaching deeper in your pocket.
$0-149 - A lovely personalized thank you and a hearty toast in your honor.
$150-$249 - Your choice between First Descents biking arm-warmers (see pics) OR First Descents t-shirt
$250-$499 - Your choice between a set of First Descents biking arm and leg warmers OR a First Descents t-shirt/baseball hat combo
$500-$749 - Your choice between a 2010 Team First Descents bike jersey (see pics) OR a First Descents hooded sweatshirt
$750-$999 - Your choice between a 2010 Team First Descents bike jersey with arm and leg warmers OR a First Descents hooded sweatshirt/hat combination
$1000-$1499 - Your choice between a matching 2010 Team First Descents bike jersey and bike shorts OR a Lance Armstrong Lithograph (see picture to the left) poster signed by Lance Armstrong
$1500 - $2499 - Your choice between a full 2010 Team First Descents bike kit (jersey, bike shorts, arm warmers, leg warmers and hat) OR a wood-mounted Lance Armstrong Lithograph (see picture to the left) signed by Lance Armstrong.
$2500+ - TRULY SPECIAL - An invitation to a First Descents donor/survivor camp in Colorado from August 4-7, 2010 (or you can defer to 2011). This wil be an abridged simulation of our program and will include lodging, meals, kayak equipment and instruction, camaraderie and total consciousness. (For another $1500, you can bring a guest with you.)
