United States Fund for UNICEF wrote -
Every day, more than 24,000 children die—and they don't have to. UNICEF is doing whatever it takes to get that number to zero.
You can help by running for Team UNICEF in the ING New York City Marathon. Money you raise will give children the clean water, food, medicines, vaccines and protection they need to survive.
Each member of Team UNICEF will raise a minimum of $3,500 to help UNICEF achieve the day when zero children die of preventable diseases.
What does $3,500 buy?
• 7 water pumps, which will help keep 7 different communities safe from deadly waterborne illnesses.
• 35 HIV test kits, allowing 3,500 mothers to take the first step to preventing the spread of mother-to-child HIV/AIDS.
• 14 school-in-a-box kits, giving 560 children temporary schooling after an emergency situation.
