EVENT DATE: Sep 08, 2012
Last fall we had a relay run to take the ARMY-NAVY Gameball from the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, PA, to the Pentagon and the stadium for the start of the game. I was so inspired by the Flight 93 Memorial and what had taken place in the skies over Pennsylvania (First Battle in the Global War Against Terror was fought by civilians) that I wanted Team RWB to bring attention to and fundraise for the memorial and help close the financial gap for the memorial that unnecessarily takes a backseat to the WTC and the Pentagon.
In short, Team RWB members from Western PA are taking part in a relay from the finish line of the 9-11 Heroes Run in Pittsburgh to the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville! They will carry all the funds we raise as a Team to the National Parks Service to help get this inspirational memorial completed. I propose that every Team RWB Athlete, Advocate, Veteran, and Supporter collect and donate at least $0.93 cents or as much as they can afford for the Flight 93 Memorial by September 8th when the 9-11 Heroes Run kicks off in Pittsburgh. At the conclusion of the race, Team RWB Western PA will run 93 miles from the race finish in Pittsburgh to the Flight 93 Memorial, Shanksville,Pa, on 8-9 Sep 2012. I would also like to have a member one of the Flight 93 families to be there to receive the check. This could really give us the national spotlight to emphasize the importance of what happened over Shanksville that day, the bravery of those men and women on Flight 93, and a true commitment for us to reintegrate our Veterans into society.
Please click "Donate" to the right to donate to this great Memorial and add to the relay team's "Load" for their 93 Mile journey to Shanksville!
