HERE'S THE STORY:
As many of you already know, I’ve taken on the challenge of training for and running the 2011 ING New York City Marathon on November 6! I could not be more excited (and nervous!) about this as it’s sure to be one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Over the past few years, running has become a true passion of mine and running a marathon has certainly risen to the top of my “to-do” list. You all know that I’m never one to take a task lightly, so why not tackle the largest marathon in the world?
My good friend Meredith approached me to run on behalf of a charity she is very involved with, A Cause 4 Celebration, when it was selected as a charity partner for this year’s ING New York City Marathon. I’ve committed to raising at least $2,500 through AC4C for the race and donations will be given to the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center, a local leader in pediatric hematology and oncology.
I’m running this race on behalf of AC4C in memory of my loving family members and friends who have suffered from or have been affected by cancer in one way or another. Any donation would be greatly appreciated for this incredible cause. Thank you for your continued love and support – I hope to see you at the finish line on November 6!
About AC4C
A Cause 4 Celebration, as an official community charity partner of New York Road Runners has committed to raising at least $12,500 through 5 runners in this year's ING New York City Marathon.
A Cause 4 Celebration is a 501(c)-3 non-profit organization dedicated to raising money for other charities that provide (1) research, (2) care, (3) treatment and (4) education for children with cancer.
Founded in 2008, A Cause 4 Celebration carries out its mission by planning innovative fundraising events. Each event is designed to raise money for a different organization carefully researched and selected by A Cause 4 Celebration's governing board.
Funds raised through the marathon program will go to the Cohen Children's Medical Center, a local leader in pediatric hematology and oncology.
