HERE'S THE STORY:
Many of you know that running a marathon has been on my bucket list for a while - and that I failed miserably (complete with a broken pelvis, cane and limp) the last time I tried. You also know that one of my greatest passions and accomplishments so far in my life is the work I do through A Cause 4 Celebration, the non-profit organization I helped form in 2008. So when AC4C was selected as a charity partner for this year's ING New York City Marathon, I decided there was no possible way I could turn down this opportunity.
Along with 4 of my friends, I've taken on the challenge of training for (and ultimately running - I hope) the 2011 ING New York City Marathon. I've committed to raising at least $2,500 through AC4C for the race and donations will be given to the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center, a local leader in pediatric hematology and oncology.
I am taking on this enormous challenge in honor of my good friend and AC4C co-founder, Mike Russell, who bravely fought and beat cancer years ago, as well as in the memory of Tony Milin, who was not so lucky and lost his battle with brain cancer in 2008.
