PROJECT PEACEPAL's Fundraiser:
Hands Together for Japan
PROJECT PEACEPAL
EVENT DATE: Jul 10, 2011
DEADLINE TO GIVE: Jul 18, 2011
HOURS PLEDGED: 60
AMOUNT RAISED OFFLINE: $8,200.00
HERE'S THE STORY:
The earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disasters in Japan killed approximately 30,000 people, entire towns have been wiped off the map, many thousands displaced from their homes, rice fields are unusable due to sea water flooding, thousands of individuals and families in need of basic necessities and comfort. The amount of rubble alone will take years to dispose of. Help is needed to continue with clean up of public and private spaces, to provide food, water, shelter, counseling, and new and recycled bicycles.
On July 10th, 2011 at 6:00 PM at the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History, there will be an art auction to raise money for the survivors of Japan’s earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disasters. Many different organizations have come together to support this important cause, including the Japanese American Citizen’s League, Asian Family Center, Project PeacePal, SEED, and AMURT. A number of important artists have agreed to donate pieces. 95% of net proceeds will go toward immediate relief efforts already on the ground in Sendai, Fukushima, and other impacted areas. Please show your support by donating today and attending the auction.
