Team Red Cross is honored to be an official charity team of the 118th Boston Marathon® and the 2014 John Hancock Non-Profit Marathon Program.
On April 21, 2014, Team Red Cross will run 26.2 miles to raise funds to continue our mission to alleviate human suffering in the face of disaster. We will run for those affected by the Boston Marathon bombing and the aftermath. And we will finish, Boston Strong.
Since 2012, Team Red Cross has raised more than $260,000 to support Red Cross programs and services. With every mile run and every dollar raised, Team Red Cross runners help to save and transform the lives of those in their greatest time of need. Team Red Cross brings together runners of all ages and abilities in support of the Red Cross mission, from first time marathoners to experienced competitors.
The American Red Cross exists to provide compassionate care to those in need. Our network of generous donors, volunteers and employees share a mission of preventing and relieving suffering, here at home and around the world, through five key service areas: disaster relief, supporting America’s military families, supplying lifesaving blood, health and safety services, and international services.
Funds raised by Team Red Cross 2014 participants will benefit American Red Cross of Massachusetts programs and services. The American Red Cross of Massachusetts is one of the largest Red Cross chapters in the nation. We stand ready to assist the citizens of our Commonwealth in times of disaster to meet emergency needs; to alleviate hunger; to make ours a more resilient Massachusetts, and to educate our next generation in preparedness, health, safety and aquatics.
Special thanks to Dan Fitzgerald, Heartbreak Hill Running Company and South End Athletic Company for providing coaching and training for Team Red Cross runners.
The American Red Cross - Keeping Boston Strong
Boston was forever changed on April 15, 2013. Within minutes of the Boston Marathon bombing, the American Red Cross responded by helping runners, visitors, spectators and first responders navigate the chaos. In the days, weeks and months to follow, the American Red Cross provided food, shelter, financial support, and mental health services to those affected, from victims and family members to first responders and community members. The American Red Cross remains committed to keeping Boston strong and resilient.
