THE STORY:
An extreme event to highlight an extreme cause!
Every day, women and children have to walk for up to 4 hours to fetch water, taking valuable time away from receiving a school education or earning an income. Often, this water is unsafe to drink leading to sickness, disease, and even death. In fact, over 80% of diseases in the developing world are related to poor drinking water and sanitation. As a result, 1 child dies every 15 seconds due to water-related illnesses.
We can make a difference! On June 29, 2010, I'm leading a group of young people on a trip to Death Valley National Park to conduct a 15-mile walk-a-thon in the desert! 15 miles to raise awareness of the fact that a child dies every 15 seconds due to a preventable water-related illness. We will begin at Badwater Basin, the lowest point in the western hemisphere and one of the hottest places on earth. With temperatures expected to rise over 120 degrees, these students will brave the heat in order to bring clean water to sub-Saharan Africa. As a true water walk, we will each symbolically carry a container of water to serve as a reminder that "We're walking so they don't have to."
Join us in making a difference by financially supporting the group of youth participating in the "Badwater for Good Water Walk." Just $1 can provide clean water for 1 African for 1 year! $10 can provide 1 African clean water for a lifetime! 100% of the funds raised will go directly to drilling and repairing clean water wells.

Matthew 25: 35-40 "‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; 36 naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? 38 ‘And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 39 ‘When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 “The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ " 3 years ago
I'd just like to thank all the people that have really dirty oriental rugs, which have kept me at work more than usual, which in turn has provided me with an opportunity to give my earnings to such a worthy cause. 3 years ago
