THE STORY:
Let's face it, being a woman isn't always rainbows and unicorns. But, nevertheless, I'm proud of who I am and I know I'm pretty lucky to be female in the US (Of course we've got some issues but really, things ain't that bad for us.)
I was able to go to school.
I was allowed to work and choose my own profession.
I can drive a car.
And I know that when the time comes, I can marry whoever I want. (yeah, keep your comments to yourself, I'm workin on it)
But I know that life isn't the same for women around the world.
Did You Know...
- One billion people live in extreme poverty – 70% are women and girls.
- There are an estimated 60 million child brides worldwide. More than 100 million girls under the age of 18, some as young as 12 will be forced to marry over the next decade.
- It’s estimated 20 million girls never go to school.
I am support for girls around the world I am hoping to raise $1,000.00 for Plan's Because I Am a Girl project by October 11.

Based on decades of experience and in-depth research, we know that changing the lives of girls changes the world. Community driven projects will address the areas most critical to women and girls: clean water, food security, healthcare, education, microfinance, and protection from violence and exploitation.
