BDPA Education and Technology Foundation wrote -
We want to raise $2,500 here on Crowdrise to fund the Bemley Scholarships for the 5th place team in the 2011 national high school computer competition. We don't know who will come in 5th place in 2011. Here are 5th place winners from past years:
2009 - New York
2008 - Atlanta (shown in the photo)
2007 - Chattanooga
2006 - Central Illinois
2005 - Chicago (they won the national championship in 2006)
2004 - Detroit
2003 - Detroit
2002 - Cincinnati
Most of the students in those years didn't receive a Bemley Scholarship.
The photo shows the young people from the HSCC team trained by BDPA Atlanta chapter who won the 5th place prize at the 2008 national HSCC championships held in Atlanta, GA. The man with the suit is Mario Armstrong ... a powerful technology advocate from the Baltimore MD area who served as master of ceremonies at the BDPA Opening Ceremonies in 2008. The young lady on the far right is Jessica Tipton. She used her $500 Bemley Scholarship to defray costs of attending Georgia State University. The other young 'uns in the photo are still in high school.
Anyhow, we would love your support here on Crowdrise to get donations of at least $2,500 to provide support to whichever team of young 'uns earns 5th place in the 2011 national HSCC championship.
