Ben Gibbard Runs Marathon for 826LA

HERE'S THE STORY:
Ben Gibbard (of Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service) is running the LA Marathon on March 20 and is asking fans to donate $26 - $1 for each mile that he runs - to the non-profit organization 826 LA, which is dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills and to helping teachers inspire their students to write by providing after-school tutoring, evening and weekend workshops and more.
In light of the recent tragic earthquake in Japan, Ben is going to personally match all 826LA marathon pledges made in the last 24 hours before the race with equal donations to the Japanese Red Cross to aid relief efforts in Japan.
