STUFF ABOUT ME:
I will be running the ING New York City Marathon on November 7, 2010 to raise money for MOLLY'S MUTTS AND MEOWS.
MOLLY'S MUTTS AND MEOWS rescued and saved my beloved Emerson from death row. (See his story and photos on my *Projects* page.)
I will never be able to thank them enough but I hope to help them at least a little by raising money so that more homeless animals can be saved.
MOLLY'S MUTTS AND MEOWS is a Los Angeles-based animal rescue group made up entirely of volunteers. They save dogs and cats from high-kill shelters in southern California, get them much-needed vet care and keep them safe in foster homes until loving, forever homes can be found.
Animal rescue takes money. Without it, rescues are NOT possible! No one at MM&M is on payroll. Your donations go directly to saving lives of homeless animals,.
I love animals and can't imagine a life without them! (See my family album of rescues at left.)
I also love to run.
I ran my first marathon in 2007, after my cat Cammie died of a rare form of leukemia. I raised money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in his honor.
One week later, I ran The Race for the Rescues and that's where I met and fell in love with Emerson and his cat sister, Peggy. (See the big photo on the left.)
Emerson was 10 years old and Peggy was 18! I adopted them both.
I was lucky enough to share my life with them until they both passed on last year.
This year, the NYC Marathon will be run almost 3 years to the day that both Emerson and Peggy arrived to begin their new lives with me. These 26.2 miles will be dedicated to their memory. It will be a bittersweet day.
WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR ME:
Because if you don't, you'll develop a really bad rash!
