I love to run, I have identified a charity that means a lot to me (both personally and professionally) and I have AMAZING friends and family members...
What could possibly make more sense than becoming a part of something like "Million Mile March?!"
Many people seem surprised to learn that congenital heart defects are the most common birth defect. My position as a pediatric nurse has allowed me to form relationships with many very special kids who were born with congential heart defects and their families.
However, my biggest motivation to form a team in an effort to raise funds to benefit the Children's Heart Foundation is my very own HEART HERO!
My nephew Xavier was born with a complex combination of multiple heart defects. Currently, at 17 months old, he has been through two open-heart surgeries and two bowel surgeries.
As part of a fundraiser for the Children's Hospital in San Diego where Xavier receives his care, my sister-in-law organized a team of walkers who would walk in honor of Xavier and other kiddos with congenital heart disease. The team was called Team Heart Hero.
In an effort to touch the lives of many, many children and families, I am hopeful that you will consider joining our team or donating funds that will help to research the prevention, detection and treatment of congenital heart disease.
