THE STORY:
DEPAUL USA INC wrote -
Bubbles arrived at Depaul House, a shelter for homeless men, in August 2011. She was a tiny kitten - only six weeks old - but she had had a rough life. Her left rear leg was missing and she was hungry, flea-bitten and lonely. The men at Depaul took her in, built her a house out of cardboard and instantly fell in love with her.
Since then, she's become a part of the life at Depaul House and she helps the residents calm down after a stressful day. She helps make our "house" a "home". The vet thinks that Bubbles was mistreated when she was a kitten and that someone kicked her, resulting in a broken pelvis and broken leg which eventually partially fell off. Because she has overcome so much hardship, the residents at Depaul House admire her resilience. They even wrote our first blog post about her: http://insidedepaul.wordpress.com/
We've taken her to the vet numerous times since she's arrived to ensure that she's healthy and happy. The generous folks at VCA Cat Hospital of Philadelphia examined her in March 2012 and have concluded that she needs surgery to have her leg amputated to the hip. VCA has generously offered to donate half of the cost of the surgery, but we need to raise the rest. The men at Depaul have offered to donate what they can to help her, but they don't have deep pockets. The staff have also offered to help. But we need generous people like you to help us afford Bubbles' surgery so she can lead a life full of playing and napping.
