Creeper Trail Ride to End Cancer EVENT DATE: Jul 28, 2012
Mileage Tracker: 17.0
DEADLINE TO REGISTER: Jul 28, 2012
Please join us for the 3rd Annual Creeper Trail Ride to End Cancer on Saturday, July 28th, to raise awareness and much-needed funding for rare cancer research. Proceeds will go to the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, the number one hospital for cancer research.
The Penny F. Garrett Sarcoma Foundation was founded in January 2010 with the purpose to raise awareness and much needed funding for rare cancer research. More than half of all cancers are classified as “rare,“ including brain cancer, cervical cancer, all pediatric cancers, pancreatic cancer, stomach cancer, uterine cancer, and more. These cancers combined together affect millions of people and the number of cases has been steadily increasing. Research on rare cancers is drastically underfunded and attract fewer research dollars than more common cancers. This results in fewer treatment options for rare cancer patients. Research on finding cures for rare cancers could yield to treatment of other more prevalent forms of cancer, making the need for research funding important for all cancer patients.
