THE STORY:
The City Year Los Angeles Crowdrise Challenge is an opportunity for CYLA corps members to share their stories of service with each other, their friends, and the broader Crowdrise community. Moreover, it is a chance to build greater excitement over the work City Year does in Los Angeles.
As part of the City Year Los Angeles Crowdrise Challenge, we are strongly encouraging all corps members to sign up, create profiles, and share their stories. We're all recruiters (and fundraisers), and this is another tool we can use to make City Year an even better organization.
We will be having weekly contests, and an overall contest.
For the overall contest, prizes will be given out to the top three corps members who have the combination of the most points and are judged to have the best content on their profiles. So we encourage you to put up pictures and video of your service, make friends with the Crowdrise community, and fundraise. The prizes for the overall contest are pretty sweet: 1st Place - an APPLE iPad; 2nd Place - a North Face jacket; and 3rd Place - a Patagonia backpack.
The weekly contests consist of smaller challenges. Each week the contest will end on Friday at 1:00pm PST.
The weekly contests and PRIZES include:
May 14th: First Team with 100% participation (join CYLA Crowdrise Challenge) and start a team fundraising project -- Pizza Party on Friday
May 14th: Corp Member with most points - City Year Mug + Crowdrise Hat
May 21st: Corps Member with the most friends - Crowdrise T-shirt
May 28th: Team who has raised the most money - City Year SWAG
June 4th: Corps member who has raised the most money - Crowdrise Hoodie & City Year Shopping Bag
A NOTE ABOUT CITY YEAR FUNDRAISING:
1) Each team is eligible to raise up to $100 in total for their end of year events. That means that teams should work together to create team-specific projects for which team members can raise money. All funds raised by your team-specific project beyond $100, will go to City Year, Inc. and NOT to your specific team. To illustrate this point imagine that two people from 116th St. Elementary school each raise $100 for team-specific projects -- $100 would go to the team project and the other $100 would go to City Year Inc.
2) You can raise money for City Year, Inc. as an organization with no limit. Note, that this money will not be designated for your team-specific project
