Capital City Half Marathon 2011
The 8th Annual Capital City Half Marathon is proud to encourage the 12,500 runners and walkers who will participate in this year's race to "Run For A Reason" by dedicating their training and participation to of the many charities associated with the Half Marathon and related events.
And in 2011, we are especially proud to partner with Crowdrise to make it even easier to make your miles matters.
Thank you in advance for considering to support one of our Official Charities in 2011.
Team In Training, which benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, has partnered with the Capital City Half Marathon annually since 2005. In 2011, TNT participants hope to raise more than $200,000 at the Capital City Half Marathon for research, patient services and education in the efforts to find a cure for blood cancers.
The Capital City Half Marathon is partnering with the American Cancer Society's DetermiNation program for the first time. DetermiNation allows participants to receive a free race entry, training tips and VIP benefits in exchange for dedicating training to the only charity program that helps saves lives from all cancers.
The Capital City Half Marathon also benefits the Capital Kids after-school program. A new initiative between the half marathon and the Columbus Recreation & Parks Department will provide incentives for all city youth who participate in programs at the city's 27 recreation centers to complete the equivalent of a half-marathon between March and May 7, 2011.
Other new charities in 2011 include Flying Horse Farms, a camp for seriously ill children located in Mount Gilead, Ohio, and Charity Newsies, a decades-old organization that raises money to provide clothes and other necessities for school aged children. The Capital City Half Marathon is also proud to work with Ronald McDonald House Charities for the first time.
The Capital City Half Marathon, founded in 2004, has grown into one of the largest half marathons in the Midwest. An estimated 12,500 runners and will compete in the Capital City Half Marathon (13.1 miles), Capital City Quarter Marathon (13.1 miles), Commit To Be Fit Fun Run (3 miles) and the Kids Mascot Chase.
