CHERUBS helps critically ill babies born with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, a severe birth defect that occurs when the diaphragm fails to fully form, allowing abdominal organs into the chest cavity and preventing lung growth. 50% of these babies do not survive. Those who do endure long hospitalizations, complicated surgeries and breathing and feeding issues, if not more severe complications. Every 10 minutes a baby is born with CDH in the world. Every hour 3 babies die from CDH. CDH can strike any family of any race, religion or socialeconomic status. The cause is unknown.
