EVENT DATE: Feb 28, 2012
DEADLINE TO GIVE: Jun 01, 2012
AMOUNT RAISED OFFLINE: $3,590.00
HERE'S THE STORY:
Hi Friends and Family,
As many of you know I am extremely dedicated to the Somaly Mam Foundation and it's efforts to rescue and rehabilitate the woman and young girls sold into Slavery. To date the Foundation has helped save over 7000 girls, some of which are as young as 4 years of age, and sold for as little as $5, and forced to endure repeated rapings, beatings, and unimaginable brutality.
In January of this year, I was asked to serve on the Board of Project Futures Global, a true honor. The mission of PFG is to help young people become educated about the inhuman reality of so many women around the world. We accomplish this by sponsoring grass root events and small fundraisers. Dipping into the Long Tail of thousands of small fundraising events, translates into a HUGE profit for Survivors in these Shelters, who are in desperate need of food, medical staff, and physiological counseling. Learn more at http://projectfutures.somaly.org/.
So that said, I plan to take the next step, and visit the Shelters in Cambodia, by participating in the SE Asia Ride 2012. I will ride dates: February 28 - March 10, 2012
This trip also coincides with International Women's Day on March 8 2012, in which I will be fortunate enough to get a chance to partake in the festivities organized in Cambodia for this very special event. Refer to this years' events here: internationalwomensday.org.
PROJECT FUTURES global and RAW Travel have created the trip to raise money for the Somaly Mam Foundation.
In order to Participate I must raise a minimum of $7500.
I need to ask for each of you to help- Please donate any amount- great or small- and all proceeds will go directly to SMF.
THANK YOU!
Samira
