"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." ~ Mahatma Gandhi, Indian Statesman and Philosopher
I'm here to raise money for two causes that are very close to me. Animals Rights & Welfare and Mental Illness Awareness.
Everyday thousands of them suffer cruelty, exploitation and neglect. This isn't right and change is happening but at a slow pace. I'm here to help raise money for different animal protective organizations. Whether it's the ASPCA, United States Humane Society, or the local shelter; they all depend on the kindness and generosity of others to continue all the hard work they do. With work and four dogs of my own to take care of at home, I felt bad that I don't have the time to do as much volunteer work that I used to do. With this site, I'm able to do something I love (RUN), for a reason I love (animals).
There are five very easy examples of this - Ranger, Lily, Roxy, Chewy & Bear. These are dogs my family and I have rescued and adopted over the years. Their stories had a happy ending, but there are many animals out there that are not as lucky. Help me raise money to support these organizations so more animals can have happy ending too.
Besides Animal Rights, I also am working to increase my advocacy for mental illness awareness. I know from personal experience the importance speaking up against the stigma and promoting the awareness of mental illness.
Mental illnesses are serious medical illnesses. They cannot be overcome through "will power" and are not related to a person's "character" or intelligence. Mental illness falls along a continuum of severity. Even though mental illness is widespread in the population, the main burden of illness is concentrated in a much smaller proportion-about 6 percent, or 1 in 17 Americans-who live with a serious mental illness. The National Institute of Mental Health reports that One in four adults-approximately 57.7 million Americans-experience a mental health disorder in a given year.
