WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR ME:
I’m a doctor specialized in hereditary colorectal cancer, and a dedicated marathon runner. By running the New York City marathon I want to raise money for hereditary colorectal cancer.
WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR ME:
The lifetime risk for colon cancer is approximately 5% and up to 30% of all colon cancers show familial clustering. Considerable worldwide effort has shown that one-sixth of these can now be explained by inherited mutations. However, with the growing possibilities of genome analyses, we are faced with the problem of finding many DNA-variants with, as of yet, unknown clinical significance. Comparing variants found in patients and families worldwide will therefore greatly increase the knowledge of these variants, and thus help identifying genetic risk factor in colon cancer. Identifying genetic risk factor in colon cancer is important because it optimizes the timing and efficiency of surveillance (colonoscopy) and treatment (removal of polyps) in at-risk persons.

Hi Fredric, Unfortunately there was no time left for me to train for Marathon. I run in Central Park but I've never run it, so I did not know that I had qualify for it. When a friend told me about training I was very disappointed. I would like to contribute in the future if you decide to commence similar project.
I learned about lynch syndrome after my sister’s death in May 2011. It has taken many lives in mother’s side in the past. We just did not know what it was. The syndrome is so horrendous that I believe it requires worldwide attention. I truly appreciate your effort; just even a fact that we are not alone and that there are people who are trying to help us.
