BENEFITING: The Match Foundation
Be the Match is such an AMAZING organization. Back in 2008, our family teamed up with Be the Match and held a donor drive in my youngest brother-in-law's honor. Fortunately, by the time we held the drive, Matt had a couple matches, and because those incredible people chose to join the marrow registry... we had more time with Matt. More time to go see several of his favorite bands in concert. More time to go to some L.A. Galaxy games. More time to take our cameras for a spin and shoot around town. More time to watch our favorite movies, such as Step Brothers, Anchorman, LIfe Aquatic, and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, over and over and over and laugh like crazy every single time. We cannot thank his anonymous donor enough.
Plus, at our Be the Match donor drive, we signed up over 70 new donors - Yay! Even better news? So far, we know of at least 1 person from our drive that has been called in to donate stem cells in order to save a life and another person has been told they're a match... how AWESOME is that?!
Please, please join the registry. It's super easy to join. And you can be the one to save a life. It's already in you. Really.
About the Be the Match Foundation (from their website)
"Every year, 10,000 patients with leukemia, lymphoma, sickle cell and other life-threatening diseases need a marrow transplant from an unrelated donor, but only half receive one. Half is not enough. Every Patient Counts!SM"
Be The Match Foundation® raises funds to help patients who need a bone marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant find a donor and receive treatment.
A gift to Be The Match Foundation:
• Delivers tangible relief to patients struggling with thousands in uninsured costs
• Ignites hope for searching patients by adding donors to the marrow registry
• Turns the impossible into the achievable by investing in research discoveries
