Dear Friends & Family, We are writing to ask for your compassion and support.    During this last week, Masato and I have been closely following the footage from Japan, and are heartbroken as we continue to watch the aftermath of this devastation unfold.  Fortunately Masato’s family who live 120 miles south of the epicenter are safe and feel blessed during this time of national crisis.   There are 21,000 people missing and/or dead, half a million homeless and a shortage of water, food, oil and a nuclear crisis at the Fukishima power plant.  There is no country in the world that is equipped to handle all of this at once. In 2007, along with Masato’s family, we were fortunate to visit the beautiful coastal town of Minami Sanriku.  This was my first trip to Japan, the beginning of what would be a new love for a beautiful country and culture and an amazing new family.  It’s heartbreaking to know this town was washed away in 6 minutes. These people need our help. I humbly ask for your generosity and support for the American Red Cross during this time of need.  The American Red Cross contributed an initial $10 million to assist Japan’s earthquake and tsunami survivors and have been on the ground providing assistance in partnership with the Japanese Red Cross. UPDATE: 6/5/11 - We have successfully delivered a large shipment of supplies to northern Japan. Check out the video from Bryan Loberg in Japan as he prepares to drive 10 hours north overnite with a convoy of supply trucks to help those in need.  There is not internet up there so our updates of the actual distribution will follow in the next few days.  A huge thank you to everyone who helped with this latest shipment.  There is so much more needed there and we hope we can go again in 30 - 45 days.  So please, please continue to help us.  Watch our videos and check out our website at www.wandaa.org to see that all this money being dontated is going to those that need it.  You will never have to question where your donation went with WANDAA. Update 3/14 - We have a meeting in the morning with the manufacturers of mobile energy systems and solar cookers.  We are hoping to strike a deal with these people to purchase and send several to the damaged areas of Japan.  We need more funds to put this together.  Please look at the photo that we have uploaded about this company's items.  What a service it could provide if we can pull it off.  Wish us luck and keep donating so maybe we can send some of these units over. 3/16 Update - Meeting with Green World Systems went great.  They have several different sized water purifiers that we spoke of.  They are willing to discount the units down to their cost for us to purchase.  We will be assessing which direction to go...work towards one or two large volume purifiers... or 5 to 6 of the smaller ones.  Even the small ones will produce plenty of drinkable water for many people.  Either way...we need a couple thousand more dollars than where we are.  So in order to send the purifiers and continue to send clothing (and get everything shipped over there) we need more financial help.    Please help us reach these goals and help the people of Japan?!?!?! With this project I want to gather together all the forces I possibly can from around the world, to help funding money to Japan Earthquake Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund. 11th of March 2011 tragedy struck the country of Japan, with a massive earthquake and aftershocks. Not only that but a tsunami also struck Japan and countries all around the Pacific Basin. Now thousands of people have already died and the numbers of deaths are still increasing. Many houndreds of children and their families are now missing. The earthquake hitting Japan with 8,9 in force of the ritcher magnitude scale is actually the 5th worse earthquake in history. It is the worst earthquake to hit Japan in at least a century. I personally work daily with a project for Save the Children's Federation office in Oslo, Norway. I love my work because it is a way of giving back to so many children and their families worldwide. With your help today we can help save lifes and especially help these children and their families through Save The Children Federation. Save the Children has launched the appeal for £1 million to do the following: Deliver psychosocial support to help overcome the shock and stress that the disaster and devastation has caused Set up child friendly spaces to provide a protective environment where children can spend time with other children and trained teachers. This service also allows parents much needed time that they can dedicate to investigating food sources, work, accommodation and locating other friends and family Monitor the nuclear power plant and prepare contingency plans for any future changes Give out warm blankets Provide with medication and lifesaving aid Give clean water Children are the most voulnarable in disasters like this one, the earhquake in Haiti and New Zealand. Every single day I work to help prepare Los Angeles for disasters. And sometimes I have the opportunity respond to emergencies like house fires, floods and wildfires. Thankfully, we haven’t had our huge earthquake yet – but it’s only a matter of time.   I have so much appreciation for the donors of the American Red Cross. They support the important work we do in Emergency and Disaster Response. In Los Angeles , we have an amazing community of dedicated volunteers who support these disaster preparedness efforts. Dear Friends & Family, I am writing to ask for your compassion and support.    During the past few months, I have been closely following the footage from Japan, and am heartbroken as we continue to watch the aftermath of this devastation unfold.   In 2008 and 2009, I have been fortunate to visit Japan.  I visited Kyoto, Nara, Tokyo with my brother in 08 and Hiroshima, Takayama, Shirakawa, and Tokyo by myself in 09.  Japan is a great country with gorgeous nature, deep history, amazing food, and last but not least, one of the kindest people I've met.  And these people need our help.  I humbly ask for your generosity and support for this fundraiser. Your donation will go to the American Red Cross. This summer, I'll be participating in my first triathlon in an incredible event called Life Time Minneapolis Triathlon. This is one of the best multi-sport event in the U.S. and it is needless to say I am very daunted by the prospect of swimming 1.5km, biking 40km, and running 10km.  I am not the type of person that is good at, or takes joy in endurance sports.  However, I am inspired by the cause and the potential impact our contributions can make. This fundraiserproject is dedicated to the thousands of animals that has been affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Cats, dogs and so many other animals needs our help today to survive. Personally I have a cat Charlie that means the world to me, and my girlfriend has a dog Baileys which also means so very much to me. I can only imagine the horror it would be to see them hurt, lost or even dead... In the news I have read so much about the human victims in this catastrophy in Japan, but seldom I see anything about the animals affected. I want to tell the world that the animals are also victims and they need our help to survive and get help through getting medication, care, to find back to their owners and feel safe. Today you can help these animals, through donating to World Vets. World Vets is a non-government organization (NGO) providing veterinary aid around the globe in collaboration with animal advocacy groups, foreign governments, US and foreign military groups and veterinary professionals abroad. Our work spans 24 countries and 6 continents and addresses not only veterinary issues, but also human health issues impacted by zoonotic diseases in developing countries. World Vets is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. World Vets is doing everything they can to provide aid for the animals that has been part of the earthquake, tsunami, floods, fires and more. World Vets is coordinating with a coalition of animal welfare groups near the epicenter.
