Hi everyone! I have decided to join ultrarunner Todd Jennings in an effort to bring attention to the need for clean water and, more specifically, a clean Hudson River. Todd will be running the length of the Hudson River (315 miles) in 8 days and is fundraising for the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, an organization whose mission is to preserve and protect the Hudson River.
I plan to join Todd for the final leg of his endeavor, running from Nyack to NYC on May 19th (33 miles total). If you are interested in supporting this cause, you are welcome to sponsor me on a per mile basis (50 cents per mile = 16.50 total, $1 per mile =$33.00 total etc.) or with a flat amount. Every bit will help!
Please read below for more detailed information:

In an effort to bring attention to the need for clean water - and in particular, clean rivers - ultrarunner and lifelong New York State resident Todd Jennings will be running the entire 315-mile length of New York’s Hudson River in May of 2012. The run will begin at Lake Tear of the Clouds, on the face of Mt. Marcy (New York’s highest peak), and will finish at The Battery in New York City. The endeavor will take 8 days, averaging approximately 40 miles per day, and is a fundraiser for Hudson River Sloop Clearwater.
Donations can be made on a "per mile" basis (10 cents = $31.50, 25 cents = $78.75, and so on...) or as a flat amount, which could be as low as $10.00 or as high as you would like. My personal goal is to get at least 500 people to sponsor me at $0.33 per mile (a $100.00 contribution). This alone will eclipse our target!

It will take anywhere from 3 seconds to 1 minute for your pic to upload, depending on how big it is.
You're going to see this message every time you post a new pic. So, we're making the text really long so that it'll take you at least five picture uploads to read it all. Here's what we're thinking...While you're first picture is uploading think about someone you want to kiss. When you upload your second pic think about one friend who you can beat in a race. On your third photo upload think about your favorite food that begins with the letter H. While your fourth picture is uploading think about how great it would be if you were a world class breakdancer. While your fifth picture is uploading try to think of the best candy to eat if you were a mime spending a month in New Zealand. If you upload a sixth and seventh picture please just read all of this again.

We're setting up your Fundraiser page right now. It will take anywhere from 3 seconds to 27 seconds.
CrowdRise is designed to help Volunteers and Fundraisers answer the call to service, raise money for Charity, and have the most fun in the world while doing it. To make sure we don't go out of business trying to help everyone raise lots of money for Charity, CrowdRise deducts 5% on donations made through our site and a $1 transaction fee for donations under $25 or a $2.50 transaction fee for donations $25 and over.
For example, with a $100 donation:
$100 Donation
-$5.00 (5%) CrowdRise's not wanting to go out of business fee
-$2.50 Transaction Fee
$92.50 goes to Charity

There's no better way to make a Fundraiser viral than by creating or joining a Fundraising Team.
A Fundraising Team is a group of Fundraisers or Volunteers, all working together for a common cause. It's like communism but more fun. Start or Join a Fundraising Team if you want to go beyond donating money and get more involved by spreading the word about the Fundraiser to your friends, family, co-workers, etc. Everyone on the Team gets their own Fundraising Page with the click of a button so we make it quick and easy to join the Team and even easier to tell your friends about it. Donating cash to a Fundraiser is amazing and much appreciated but imagine the impact you can have if you go a step further and ask everyone you know to donate too. And then a couple of them join the Team and spread the word to all their friends. We've seen this work successfully over and over and it can work for this Fundraiser too.
If you have any question about how to Join or set up a Team on CrowdRise, please Contact Us.
Share your Project Page with everyone you know and ask them to donate to your amazing cause. 97% of people you ask will say yes. And if they don't give at least a little cash money, there's no reason to buy them a holiday or birthday gift ever again.
