Thanks for considering a donation to Jack’s Fund. Why did I choose to run for Jack's Team?
Some of you are aware, but for those of you who don't know, I lost a very special friend, Michelle, to Melanoma a few years ago. Because of the lack of awareness and knowledge of the disease, Michelle lived with a mole left unchecked, and untreated for several years. Michelle was a sun worshiper and frequently used tanning beds. Not until this mole started to change did she finally go to the Dr., and have it checked--it had already metastasized. She lived only 1 year after her diagnosis. Michelle was only 32. Why am I asking for your donation to this fund? If you have had spots removed, precancerous cells or have Melanoma, you already know. If you have relatives or close friends with recent evidence of melanoma you will appreciate my request for money. No one should be so unaware of something that could be prevented. No one should die from Melanoma. Melanoma is the second most common cancer for young adults ages 15-29. The risk of being diagnosed with melanoma doubles with five or more sunburns at any age, and exposure to tanning beds in youth increases risk by 75%! Since the risk of melanoma affects or has affected each and every one of us, the work that Jack’s Fund is doing to increase research funding and to develop awareness programs is so important!
