WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR ME:
As you probably know, I am a runner. I run for many of the typical reasons. I run to get stronger, to re-energize, to think, to relax and to take care of my body and heart. But this year I will take on the challenge of running the 2011 ING NYC Marathon, on November 6th, for a different reason. I will run to honor a hero.
Nicholas Rossamando was a firefighter who ran somewhere the rest of us could not. He and his company FDNY Rescue 5 of Staten Island, answered the call on September 11, 2001. Nicholas went to save lives at the WorldTradeCenterand in doing so he gave his own.
We all remember where we were almost ten years ago on a bright, sunny Tuesday morning in September, when time stood still as the unthinkable happened in America. The events of 9/11/01changed our lives and for many it cost them their lives.
Nick was a man with a reputation for loving life, his family, friends and those around him. He and his brothers played football for PortRichmondHigh School. It is there that his mother, two brothers and sister established the Nicholas Rossamando 9/11 Memorial Scholarship Fund. This is the family's way to keep his spirit alive, honor his memory, and bring forth hope from what was lost.
On November 6, 2011, I will run the New York City Marathon, and raise money for Nick's scholarship fund. I am asking if you would like to be a part of it too. I will run in honor of Nick. I will run to say thank you. I will run to remember, and I will run for the firefighters, like my husband Bill Fanos, who continue to protect the city of New Yorkas one of New York's Bravest.
As we approach the 10th anniversary of September 11th, I am asking you to please make a donation for the Nicholas Rossamnado 9/11 Memorial Scholarship Fund. To honor Nick and support his family, please give whatever you can. Thank you!
