Hello there team members! First of all, thanks for joining! Second of all, i have been trying to conspire up a run/walk type event to try and raise some money. i thought about a 5k run, but turns out you have to pay like some $500 to have a race at a park and a whole bunch of other silly things like that that it didn't make much sense to do that. so now i have this thought of having a 1000 mile walk/run. this is how i have it concocted in my mind....we get as many people as possible, ourselves included to pledge to walk or run a certain # of miles....our goal being that all totaled together we'd reach 1000 miles. we pick a day (sometime in Oct i think) that we have this "event." everyone does it wherever they are on a sidewalk, street, trail, treadmill, whatever (we have no cost of hosting an actual event at a certain place). how we would raise money from this...there are probably different ways to do this so if you all have better ideas let me know! (or if you have better ideas than this one all together, let me know that too:) one way would be to order shirts and make them all cool looking and the participants would buy the shirt for however much it costs to make the shirt, plus $20 to go toward our uniform fund (probably between $25-$30 with those prices combined). then on top of that, we could also have each runner/walker get people to donate $/mile for them....so they have a minimum # of miles they think they'll run (to make sure we have our 1000 covered), but then will try harder to go farther to raise extra money for the cause. does this make sense or have i stretched this idea to far that it is too complicated? i thought it would be cool to have everyone in all our respective locations running and walking together to help buy as many uniforms as we can. 1000 miles is a lot....if we have 50 people doing this that means each would do 20 miles....that's a heck of a lot of miles, so the goal would be to get as many people involved as possible and spread the word about purchasing these uniforms for kids. let me know what you all think!
