I have run 2 marathons thus far and, for the most part, I have competed with, or for myself. This year is so much more special though; because I have signed on to run the New York City Marathon on behalf of the Nick Rossomando 9/11 Memorial Scholarship Fund. I am proud to be part of this “team”.
Nick Rossomando was a New York City Firefighter who lost his life in the 9-11 tragedy as he selflessly came to the assistance of the victims of that day 10 years ago. In his memory, his family has established a scholarship fund for children who face great adversity in their lives but yet still excel in school. It is my honor to salute Nick Rossomando, a true American hero, by helping the fund aid these extraordinary children.
I am United States Navy Veteran, a former law enforcement officer, and a scholarship recipient myself. While in the Navy I can remember vividly seeing the tops of the twin towers, even before you could see land, as my ship was returning to its home New York Harbor base after six months at sea; one that included a stint in the Persian Gulf. I have always been proud to be American but I promise you nothing has stirred my patriotism more than seeing those towers on the horizon. I felt the honor of serving, the humbleness of being home, and intense exhilaration at the role the twin towers played into all of that emotion. I hope to experience that exact same set of emotions as I cross the finish line running for this notable cause in the city that has shown its resilience, spirit, and compassion through families like the Rossomandos.
9/11 was nothing less than tragic. We all know that and won’t ever forget as I am certain Nick’s family will never forget him. That was a dark day for all of us. For some of the kids this fund has been established for, they are encountering adversity in one way or another sometimes EACH AND EVERY day of their young lives and somehow, some way, are finding a way to excel. It is unimaginable to think how they are managing to do it!
So I am grateful to the Rossomando family for realizing these kids deserve our help and I am so very honored to be able to run and raise money for the cause. I am asking you to please make a donation to the Nicholas Rossomnado 9/11 Memorial Scholarship Fund honoring Nick and to support his family’s efforts to assist these bright young kids. Please give whatever you can. No donation is too small. Thank you!
May our enduring American spirit never allow us to forget men like Nick Rossomando and may our unmatched compassion allow us to always help those in need when we can.
WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR ME:
I might not be the best Volunteer or Fundraiser but I'm decent at it and I can't think of a downside of throwing a vote my way.

Hi...Sending a November Vote your way, along with Best Wishes for a successful fundraising Project. November is also Epilepsy Awareness Month, so please think PURPLE for those who live with Epilepsy, including my son, Jason. Also, since to today is Veterans Day, please honor all those who served. Many of the soldiers coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan with head injuries, will also face living with Epilepsy as a result of their injuries.
