EVENT: Mozilla Firefox Challenge
HERE'S THE STORY:
Our public charter high school has been offering students real-world internship experiences since 1993. During the school year, students attend school every other week; the alternate week they participate in minimum 20-hour/week daytime internships over 5 days in a variety of industries: health care, office support, theater, community development, education, etc.
There is no cost to organizations hosting internships; we ask in return that students be involved in meaningful work for a minimum of 20 hours, be trained, supervised and evaluated and have experiences that will assist them in making career choices.
Interns receive a stipend for their participation - anywhere from $10 to $100 per week. These funds DO NOT come from state-allocated support; we must raise all stipend monies.
Our objective is for students to experience training in a wide range of industries; any help you could provide in that endeavor helps our kids identify their values and focus on their goals
