As of 3/22 KORE & FISH are feeding 838 children at ten schools and orphanages in Haiti. More kids and locations are being added each week.
In fact, since the 1/1/11 launch of this initiative, your support for the KORE/FISH 6.25 Feeding Ministry has provided funding for 1550 Haitian children to receive healthy meals for the next year. And, with your help, we’re going to keep working toward our 2011 goal of food security for 11,000 children this year. $6.25 per month per child is what it takes. Animal protein for these meals is provided by our Haitian poultry growers. KORE provides micro-loans to very poor Haitians to build and operate a chicken coop. FISH provides training and oversight. To help these new businesses get established 6.25 Funds purchase up to 30% of each grower’s chickens.
These Haitians are learning the dignity of a paycheck, repaying their loans, tithing to their churches, caring for their families and expanding their businesses. In the first year they increase their annual incomes 5 – 7 times.
Kids are being fed! Poor are taking sustainable steps out of poverty. It’s a simple plan that addresses poverty and hunger at the same time.
