Hi there. I wanted to let you know about a new fundraiser that I’m launching to benefit Animals Asia’s Moon Bear rescue . Since you so generously contributed to my fundraiser last year, I wanted to invite you to take part, so we can help them end the suffering of so many bears that languish needlessly for years on bile farms across Asia.

If you are touched by the plight of the Moon Bear, and if you haven’t done so already, why not join me? You can do whatever you want, wherever you want to raise funds, but there will be prizes for the person that raises the most money, and for the most creative/outrageous fundraising idea. It will be a lot of fun. Myself, I'll be running the Pennsylvania Tough Mudder on June 2nd. But if together we get anywhere near the $100,000 goal by October, I pledge to run the New Jersey Mudder in a Moon Bear costume and post a video of it. I’m not sure if it’s physically possible, but there’s only one way to find out...

Anyway, if getting involved is not your thing, a donation of any amount is always immensely appreciated. Please don’t feel obligated though. You have been so generous already.

Please excuse me reaching out to you again but this is rather urgent and won't cost you anything this time except a minute or two of your time.

I just learned that Animals Asia, the organization that you so generously supported back in May through my fundraiser, is having a bit of a problem at the moment and I wanted to ask you, to take a minute and help them out if you haven't done so already. I can’t thank you enough for supporting my fundraiser for Moon Bears last month, and I truly mean it. So here’s another wave of heartfelt thanks.

All in all $20,000 was raised, plus about $7,000 in matching gifts from PepsiCo. Thinking about it still makes me feel warm inside.

Incidentally, this link is also a placeholder for the next fundraiser, which will probably be in Spring 2013. I’m encouraging brave people to join my team and do their own crazy thing to raise money for the Moon Bears (skydiving, bungee jumping, shark diving, whatever). Myself, at the risk of catching fire, or drowning, or both, I’m planning on running the Tough Mudder again, but this time in a bear costume. I have a sneaking suspicion that there will be another Earth Day type Challenge next year, if not before. The more people on the team raising funds, the better chance we have of coming in 1st place, so join up and you’ll get your very own fundraising page.
