It's been one of my life goals to run a marathon, so when the good people at The Nature Conservancy offered me the opportunity to run in this year's NYC Marathon, I RAN at the chance! And in doing so I will be raising funds on behalf of TNC, whose cause is always noble and whose efforts affect every single one of us in a positive way.
TNC's vision is "to leave a sustainable world for future generations." In this age of "me first" thinking, we must take a step back and look at the global issues like climate change and realize that our actions have serious consequences that can be beneficial or detrimental to the environment. Our positive efforts to conserve the planet we live on will not only impact us in the short term, but may save the future generations of this world from catastrophic events.
All of this has never hit home as hard as when my two sons were born just a few weeks ago. As a parent, you're given a huge responsibility and you owe it to them to not only teach them good values but to also leave them a world that they can thrive in and help sustain for their children. If we can change the "me first" thinking to "we first" thinking, we will surely find ourselves in a better world.
So please help me realize my dream by donating to my cause, because we will all benefit from it!
