I want to introduce myself My name is Carlo and my mission is to give to charity every day for a year. This mission is built on a belief that you don't have to be rich in dollars to make a difference, you only need to be rich in spirit. I may not always be able to give a lot, but I will Give Everyday.
I donated to an organization called Foundation Escalera, one of their programs involves expeditions to the neediest villages in Mexico to build schools as a way to combat poverty through access to education. I have always wanted to go on a mission like this and help others first hand.
So, I am volunteering my time during the holidays to go to Chiapas, Mexico to build a school for some kids in need. So, this month's featured charity is sponsor my volunteer efforts and raise additional funds for Foundation Escalera so they may continue to build schools in other villages and combat poverty with education.
UPDATE: 1 school down, many more to go! :
I just came back from my school building trip in Mexico, we built a 3 room school house, 2 bathroom stalls, and installed 20 wood burning stoves in the homes of the families most in need. This school will service 150 students each year in the village of La Virginia in Chiapas, Mexico. This is a "junior high school", which will provide a place for kids to continue their education in a climate controlled environment. I plan on going back next December to build again. In the meantime, please consider making a contribution to Foundation Escalera so they may continue to build schools in Mexico and provide scholarships to children in need who want to learn.
Foundation Escalera is a leader in providing educational infrastructure to indigenous villages in Mexico. This summer Escalera will embark on a new project to investigate the secondary education system and finalize an improvement plan for the local government. To this end Escalera is interested in recruiting highly motivated individuals to help support ground level operations in Chiapas, Mexico as a part of the Escalera Internship Program.
Thanks for the support!
