CROWDRISE MEMBER SINCE: Mar 16, 2010
HOME: Watertown, WI, United States
PERSONAL WEBSITE: There's Room In My Boat
ROCK PAPER OR SCISSORS: Paper
STUFF ABOUT ME:

Trying to live cleaner, live/love longer, conserve our planet, our animals, and the human race. I'm busy raising a family, a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and working as a nurse. In my lifetime quest to be the BEST of myself and be the best model for my kids, I support many causes.

Enough of that. Here's the stuff you really want to know.......

I am a Crowdrise addict.
I can eat and write (legibly) with both hands.
My last pet was a dog with 3 legs.
I have one son with Autism Spectrum Disorder and one son who does not.
My cousin is a goat farmer.
I can speak French....kinda.
I have to concentrate really hard to curb my potty mouth.
I am severely allergic to Lavender.
I sleep in a Scooby Doo T shirt.
My mom, my sister, and I are all nurses in different specialties.
I have three Goddaughters.
I have been wearing glasses or contact lenses since I was 2.
I think cows are adorable and would like to have one as a pet.
I was voted "All Around Nice Girl" in junior high. WTF??? Kidding!
I have the sense of humor of a 14 year old boy.
I suffer from bridge-over-water phobia.
I am truly the most uncoordinated and ungraceful person on the planet, which is how my foot ended up spending 5 months looking like the picture on the left.
I call that foot Frankenfoot now.
My husband cheated on me via Skype, sexting, Facebook, and Second Life but I'm trying to figure it could have been worse.
I'm still divorcing the guy :)

WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR ME:

1. All of the above

2. I don't really know what I'm doing but I pretend that I do.

3. "All Around Nice Girl". Isn't that enough?

If I were you, I get my mom the personalized rap video :)

Happy May! It’s finally spring, and kids will soon be running out the school doors into sweet summer freedom. But over 19,000,000 children across the country do not own a single book. Can you imagine a summer without even a little fun reading?

Please take a minute to check out Reader to Reader's newest fundraiser with Twive & Receive: http://twive.razoo.com/story/Amherst-Loves-Books Your donation on June 14th could help us win a share of $30,000! Now more than ever, the smallest donation can have a huge impact. You can sign up for a reminder email on our page, or if you just can't wait to get books in the hands of children, donate now. Thank you for your support!

Happy April, CR friend!
Reader to Reader is auctioning off some great artwork to raise funds for our many international programs, thanks to our friends at the ART4GOOD Foundation. If you like art, books, or education, stop by and take a look at the 35 beautiful pieces available! http://bit.ly/HjFtMO
You get a beautiful piece of art, and RTR can:
-provide special education programs for children in the Dominican Republic;
-teach women to read in Nigeria;
-keep abandoned children in childhood through reading and improve theater in rural China;
-sponsor Haitian kids to finish school;
-continue to grow our public library in a coffee-farming Costa Rican village;
AND support many other programs that do wonderful work in India, Mexico, Nicaragua, Kosovo, Ghana and other countries.
If art isn’t your thing, you can still support our programs by donating or joining our team. Take a look at my projects to see more of what we do.
All the best, and HAPPY READING,
Kat
