The photos at left show Manny and me when we volunteered with the Face-to-Face AIDS project in Malawi.  Mike and his family were just one reason the trip was amazing.   They live in the village of Chadika, a model community for Face-to-Face.  The successes we witnessed inspire us to this day and inspired us to select this charity as a way to celebrate our wedding.    The people of Malawi, and villages like Chadika in particular, face many basic challenges but initiatives started by Face-to-Face are leading the way towards self-sufficiency. 

As you will see below, strategic projects centered around new farming techniques, and HIV prevention together with fundamental investments have raised the standard of living and helped to secure the community's future.    Our experience as part of these projects was deeply moving.  These photos barely hint at the wonderful people and the dedication they have made to educating and feeding themselves, work that Face-to-Face has made a  priority. Your gift would mean a great deal to us, and will be life-changing for the beneficiaries.   Thank you for sharing in this experience with us.

Children & Youth Programs: Help us provide valuable learning to hundreds of children and young adults, from basic math and reading skills, to practical knowledge in HIV, malaria, TB, as well as sustainable farming, public speaking, and human rights.

A wonderful way to bring soccer balls, netballs, and children's educational games to our children's center.

Nearly 100 children, up to the age of 7, benefit from these feeding and basic education program at our 3 children's basic education centers.

A-3.  $100       Youth Program Operations    - 11 available

Some of the many youth group programs include outreach training, HIV and malaria education, and leadership training.

A-4.  $50          Workshop trainer (agriculturalist, nutritionist, health advocate, etc) - 12  available

This will help pay for facilitators to our youth group programs -- an essential part of bringing learning to our youth groups.

A-5  $100         Trainer of special sessions (teacher, artist, agriculturalist,  leadership  trainer)  -  3 available

A continuation of A-4, which will allow us to extend the number of times and the length of a program we can offer our youth group.

A leader and facilitator to ensure that the Chadika Youth Group operates effectively, and fiscally responsibly.

A vital part of bringing knowledge to our Chadika youth group is to coordinate knowledge exchange programs with established youth groups in the area.

Adult Health & Vocational Programs: Support a range of programs that enable impoverished villagers to raise their quality of life by learning how to care for their land and their community in longterm, sustainable ways.

B-1.  $250            HIV and Malaria Census and Outreach  -  12 available

Bringing essential knowledge to the community about HIV and malaria prevention and treatment.

B-2.  $300            Vocational Training  and Leadership Training - 2 available

As part of our effort to increase learning opportunities to adults, most of whom are illiterate, we offer training workshop sessions to both community organization leaders and village chiefs and headmen.

B-3.  $500            Tree Nursery, Cassava Planting, and other Organic Manure Activities    -   8 available

Part of our organic, sustainable effort to make Chadika self-reliant is to introduce knowledge about tree farming, cassava growing, and the making of manure as substitute for expensive chemical fertilizers.

B-4.  $1,000         Sustainable Farm Program for People affected by HIV and Extreme Poverty  -   4 available

To raise the quality of life for the poorest and those affected by HIV and other diseases, this program not only brings new knowledge about better organic farm practices, it also combats discrimination by making the stigmatized into role models.
