WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR ME:
I am running my second ING NYC Marathon this year. 2010 was my first ever marathon. I am running in honor of my mother Patricia Redmond who lost her 1 year battle with colon cancer on August 30, 2008. Mom was with me every step of the way in 2010. Without her I would not have been able to finish the marathon in 3 hours, 42 minutes and 8 seconds.
Thank you to everyone who supported me last year. Your donations and support mean the world to me. Special thanks to every little kid who gave me a high five on the course. You really kept me going.
I am very excited to run again in 2011. I have commited to raise $3,000 for The Colon Cancer Challenge Foundation. Last year I raised over $5,000.
The Foundation's mission includes:
- Supporting research into the causes and cures for colorectal cancer including funding of young scientific investigators.
- Increasing public awareness about colorectal cancer and its prevention.
- Educating the public about the risk factors for colorectal cancer and the importance of early detection.
- Partnering with and supporting strategic partners in the fight against colorectal cancer.
Thank you once again for all of your support. I can't do this without you. I hope to see you out on the course!!
