Minds Matter of Los Angeles - Run for Funds
THE STORY:
Minds Matter of Los Angeles students and volunteers are putting their physical prowess to the test by lacing up their shoes and running to raise money and awareness for this organization’s noteworthy cause.
Minds Matter of Los Angeles is a mentoring organization whose mission is to transform the lives of accomplished high school students from low-income families by broadening their dreams and preparing them for college success. This is all done through an intensive curriculum that spans three years of their high school careers where they benefit from:
- Tutoring in Math, Writing & Critical Thinking
- College preparation academic course work
- Mentoring from young professionals
- Participation in leading academic summer programs
- Guidance through college admissions and financial aid
In its inaugural year, 2010, Minds Matter of Los Angeles was able to send all its students to leading summer programs across the country such as Harvard, Brown and Cornell University. In recognition of this highly successful first year, Minds Matter of Los Angeles was named “Non-profit of the Year for Small Organizations” by the LA Business Journal.
Lastly, Minds Matter of Los Angeles is 100% volunteer run so virtually every dollar helps a student to get that much closer to achieving their dreams.
