HERE'S THE STORY:
The Million Mile March was born from the collective energy, passion and love of 62 runners who joined together to set a Guinness World Record for the “Most People Linked Together to Complete a Marathon.” Along the way, these runners raised over $115,000 to help with the ongoing rehabilitation of former elite runner Jenny Crain who was severely injured while training for the Olympic Trials prior to the Beijing Olympics. And so this small group of runners became the inspiration for a vision so enormously powerful that its reach transcends traditional fund raising models.
The Million Mile March encourages, motivates, organizes and galvanizes runners across the nation to run for others and solicit pledges for $1/per mile for a selected charity, designated by each individual runner. The endeavor will culminate in March with a minimum of 10,000 runners committing to run 100 miles each and collectively raise a minimum of $1,000,000 for designated charitable partners.
And true to the maxim “in the giving is the getting” participating runners in the Million Mile March will enjoy a bounty of benefits. Each runner will receive complimentary training plans and coaching from Briana Boehmer whose front-edge techniques, experience and knowledge brings a whole new meaning to the term “fast-forward.” The “Master of the Mind” Cheri Cope will provide insight, tips and guidance to teach runners to channel the strength of proper mental imaging and mental conditioning to maximize results. Registered Dietitian, fitness guru and running phenom Annie Weiss will provide actionable plans and advice on how to optimize the benefits of diet, nutrition and hydration. Body Basix® and an array of supporting sponsors will provide special offers, incentives, discounts, samples and prizes for the runners.
