THE STORY:
My name is Miranda Roehrick and I am running in the Bay to Breakers Race this spring for Daraja Academy, a secondary school for girls in Kenya, Africa. Daraja provides an amazing environment for these materially impoverished, bright, young women to continue their education through secondary school. This summer I will be traveling to Daraja for three weeks with my school, Marin Academy, and I am participating in this race as a way to raise money both for myself and for the Academy. I am partnered with Meldah, a student at Daraja who will be running the same distance in Kenya. Meldah believes that there is "nothing you cannot do with an education," and before she got into Daraja, her dream to finish school was not likely. At Daraja, there are countless stories like Meldah's, and the Academy has given these girls a place to realize their dreams. I am extremely excited for this trip, as it will be a way for me to make new friends, experience another culture, and learn so many valuable things that will change my life forever.
The first $150 will go to me, and the rest will go towards Daraja Academy. Thanks so much for your support! It truly means a lot.
