HERE'S THE STORY:
I am racing Ironman Panama 70.3 on Feb. 12th, but I am more passionate about what we are going to be doing after the race. 30 athletes and myself have committed to spend 2-3days after the race to travel to a remote area of Panama that was hit by a flood. This village lost their homes, and we are going to spend our recovery time building homes for them. Join with us by giving financially for the materials needed to build. Donate here.
More Than Sport will partner with YWAM and Homes of Hope to build homes for flood victims in the Darien Gap in the Rep. of Panama following the Ironman 70.3 Panama this February 2012. If you feel called to give financially to support the cost of a home please do so here and know that it will go to a family in need of help.
In November of 2010 a series of devastating floods swept through the Darien Gap, destroying homes for more than 300 people. To date, 48 homes are in dire need of being rebuilt. Join us to make this dream come true, as we set out to build four homes for the neediest of the families. Help bring hope to the Embera!
Extend your travel 2-3 days after the race to build a whole house or just help for a day. We will also be raising the funds for building materials. More than Sport began with the vision of Chris Lieto, Ironman champion, world record holder in cycling, and 3 time triathlon champion, who wanted to do more with his athletic ability than simply compete. Simply said: Chris founded More Than Sport to provide a way for athletes to invest in communities of need, particularly those we compete in.
We are able to improve the lives of children and communities around the world, when we become athletes who live for More Than Sport.
