We all know that mothers are the most special people on the Earth, giving their unique brand of love and care every day without expecting anything in return.
Mothers of children with complex health care needs are even more special.
Caring for a child with a life-shortening condition can be simultaneously one of the most joyous and most difficult things a mother will ever face. Most families who find themselves in this situation feel helpless due to the lack of appropriate care and support services for their desperately ill children outside of a strict hospital setting.
As a result, parents are overwhelmed due to the lack of support, information, resources and guidance as they face some of the hardest decisions they will ever have to make.
Connor’s House is designed to bridge the gaps of today’s fractured medical system by providing a soothing, home-like refuge where parents can receive short breaks from the daily stress of providing 24/7 care for their children. From the day of diagnosis of a life-shortening condition Connor’s House will provide a comprehensive program of family-centered care including medical, psychological, social, spiritual and bereavement services and therapies.
