North Star Reach seeks to provide a life-changing camp experience for children with serious or life-threatening health-challenges and their families.
We have an ambitious plan to bring the magic of summer camp to children and families who often times don’t have the resources or ability to enjoy some of life’s simplest pleasures. As a result of a diagnosis that instantly interrupts and changes their world, anything that was typical becomes a luxury and secondary to finding a way to live with something no one is ever prepared to face, especially children.
North Star Reach cannot cure their disease or condition, but we can make a difference. By creating a place without medical and monetary barriers that is safe, supportive and perhaps most importantly fun, children facing unimaginable challenges can find comfort in not being the only one. Our new camp home, once constructed will be a place where thousands of children and family members experience “once in a lifetime,” every single day.
Located in southeastern Michigan, the camp is set among tall trees and rolling hills with a beautiful lake and a clear view of the sky above. Integrated within this inspiring natural environment will be state-of-the-art medical facilities supported by partnerships with the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and other area children’s health centers.
