THE STORY:

Dear Friends and Family,

As some of you know, I've been working with an organization named iMentor since 2007, both as a mentor and, for two years, as co-chair of its Young Executive Board. The program connects working folks like myself with high school students in low-income communities across NYC.

During the 2008-09 school year, 92% of the students involved in the program graduated from high school (compared to NYC's average graduation rate of 55.8%), and 82% enrolled in college.

My first mentee, Ricardo, graduated from the Bronx Academy of Letters high school in 2010 and is now finishing up his second year of college in Brooklyn (2nd in his family to attend college!). I'm now in the first year of my next match, a four year mentoring relationship with a student from Urban Assembly School for Careers in Sports in the Bronx.

iMentor covers many of its own costs by licensing its software platform, but it needs additional funding to support its growth.

Last year, you helped me surpass my fundraising goal of $500 by donating $785 to the cause. This year, I'm shooting for $2,000. I hope you'll consider helping me get there!
