I received many high-fives throughout my basketball career... help me return the favor by giving my hometown and the students at the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy (JRLA) a new classroom! In return, I will give my supporters a high-five by selecting lucky donors to win "fab" prizes that will be announced throughout the campaign.

JRLA is one of the few local charter schools with a waitlist... in order to accommodate our growing student body, we need to expand our existing facility by the 2013-14 school year. That's where we need your support! If we get 10,000 supporters to each donate $10, we'll reach our goal of $100,000 to build a much needed new classroom! 

BREAKING NEWS: An anonymous donor has just committed a $25K match donation; so, every dollar you donate will be worth DOUBLE until we raise $25K for this project!  The donor matching funds will be used to support operations at JRLA.

Detroit schools are in crisis:

• 31.9% of Detroit’s public high school students graduate in 4 years
• 12.1% of the adult population in Detroit has earned a bachelor’s degree or higher
• 47% of the adult population in Detroit is functionally illiterate

It’s time for a solution... help me make JRLA part of that solution! JRLA is an open-enrollment tuition-free public charter school located on the Northwest side of Detroit.  JRLA provides a leadership-focused experience within a high-performing high school that engages and inspires Detroit youth to achieve at the rigorous level necessary to ultimately graduate with a college degree. Students are provided with real-world, project-based experiences within the context of leadership, sports, and entertainment.

JRLA offers Detroit area high school students unique opportunities that they would not receive from any ordinary public school:

• Low student to teacher ratios (20:1; 10:1 in math & English)
• Extended school day (8am-4:30pm) and school year (211 days)
• Innovative curriculum with cutting-edge technology (personal laptops for all students)
• Preparation to excel on the ACT
• Student leadership training and development 
• Dual enrollment at the University of Detroit Mercy

Operation Graduation is the 501(c)(3) non-profit implementing a fundraising campaign to support JRLA. Detroit charter schools receive roughly 85% less state-aid than nearby suburban schools and unlike traditional public schools, charter schools do not receive funding for facilities.
