I'm raising money to fight ovarian cancer - will you help me?
My day job may be FirstRain but my life is my family and friends - both sides of the pond. As many of you know, my mother (who is the sweetest one of all of us) was diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer early in 2010. She was very brave as she went through chemo (and Daddy was an amazing nurse) and is now in remission and smiling. We are all very grateful for the repreive from this ugly, silent killer and I am raising money for research into early detection and ultimately a cure.
Since I am a lousy runner, and biking is hard to do with my travel schedule, I am swimming. And swimming. And swimming. The race is 2.4 miles in the Maui ocean off Makena beach on Labor day and two friends are doing it with me. If you are on Maui that day come and cheer and I'll buy you dinner. http://www.aumakuaswim.org/
The longest race I have swum before is 1.2 miles in a river so 2.4 miles in the ocean is a big challenge for me and I am doing it for Mummy and for every other woman facing ovarian cancer. You can see the lovely ladies (and a few of the men) in my life in my photos - let's defend every one of them.
Will you donate and so pile on the pressure for me to finish - and fight ovarian cancer at the same time?
