THE STORY:
Friends of Sarah wrote -
Sarah is 10 years old and a 5th grader at Knoxville Jewish Day School. On May 28, 2011 she was injured in a horrific traffic accident. She suffered a spinal cord injury and is paralyzed from the waist down.
Sarah hopes to go to Project Walk Spinal Cord Injury Recovery Center in Atlanta for months of intensive physical therapy. Sarah's doctors believe she is a good candidate for this type of neurorecovery work, as she is extremely motivated and recently lifted her leg. The hope is that Sarah can regain some movement, possibly even learning to walk again. Project Walk has successfully rehabilitated many spinal cord injured paraplegics. Sarah's school and her family and friends are raising funds for her recovery. Project Walk is not covered by insurance and Sarah's family cannot afford to pay. Expenses are likely to exceed $30,000.
