Run with South Sudan, run with military veterans, run with your neighbors wherever you live. On March 18th, the day of the LA Marathon, we RUN AS ONE.
What’s the story with South Sudan?
Warring South Sudanese tribes will come together on December 31st, 2011 for Team Rubicon’s RUN AS ONE half-marathon, one of the first official sporting events in the new country of South Sudan. The male and female winners will come to Los Angeles to run the LA Marathon on March 18th; these runners will then likely compete in South Sudan’s first Olympic Games in London, 2012. Join our team to help them get there and contribute to the building of a new nation.
What do veterans have to do with it?
Team Rubicon is a non-profit organization that repurposes the skills of young military veterans for humanitarian disasters. Some of TR’s veterans will run in South Sudan in December, and we’re inviting all 500 of our veteran volunteers to RUN AS ONE wherever they live in the U.S. on March 18th. These veterans are starting localized TR disaster response units all over the country – repurposing their skills and helping out when disaster strikes. Join our team to help bring a unit of veteran first responders to your region.

We're serious if you're serious. You raise 100k, we will fly you out to South Sudan with the rest of the TR team to run in the 2012 RUN AS ONE Marathon. If you think this is wild, it's because it is.
SOUNDS GREAT! BUT WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
1. If the South Sudanese marathoners make it to the Olympics, we'll pay for their expenses. Watch the first Olympians of South Sudan walk in the opening ceremony, and know that you helped get them there.
2. We'll continue our Peace through Medicine initiative and RUN AS ONE marathon in South Sudan.
3. We'll use the rest to support the development of regonalized Team Rubicon veteran units to respond to whatever nature throws our way. While transitioning home, veterans get to use their skills in continued service to others, and we'll all get help when disaster strikes.
