THE STORY:
I, Monica McAlister, have decided to run the Detroit International Half Marathon to raise money for the American Special Hockey Association (ASHA).
Created in 2000 for players with developmental disabilities, the American Special Hockey Association (ASHA) gives people of all ages and abilities a chance to learn and grow by playing hockey. There are currently over 50 ASHA programs in more than 30 cities throughout the United States.
I am looking for others that wish to join me and run other legs of the Marathon including the full marathon, the US half, the 5K and the 5 person relay to help being awareness of ASHA and raise money for them.
UPDATE 21 Jan 2013
Was in a car accident this morning. My car hit black ice on the freeway and spun out. Hit the guard rail twice. It could have been much worse. I am okay, bumps, bruses, sprains, and concussion but I didn't break anything and I am alive. My car on the other hand is totaled. Not allowed to workout right now :(
UPDATE 16 Jan 2013
My In Training shirt came in the mail today. Still a ways out yet but getting excited!
UPDATE 1 Jan 2013
2:00 a.m. now registered for the International Half Marathon!
UPDATE: 31 Dec 2012
After tearing a muscle last week I did the 2012 New Years Resolution Run in Downtown Flint in 49 minutes. Not great; but not bad all things considered. Came in 5th for my division; 102nd overall. Happy New Year!
