THE STORY:

20 years ago, I was diagnosed with Stage 1 mucinous adenocarcinoma of the ovary. Simply put... ovarian cancer. Because of early detection, I was extremely fortunate to have overcome what is known as the silent killer. Doctors had to remove one ovary but for those of you who paid attention in science class, women have two ovaries. Left with one, I was able to have two beautiful & healthy girls, who mean the world to Kevin and I.

Cancer sucks...  no doubt about it. My experiences has led me to fight back with strength and endurance, which is why I race in triathlons. The sport of triathlon has become a focal point in my life, which sends me on a daily quest to get better and faster.

On Sunday, June 10, I will race in the Survivor Wave of the SheROX triathlon in Naperville. This wave is for women who are fighting ovarian cancer or who have survived. It is such an inspirational experience to be in their presence and to observe their strength and will power. Waiting in our race suits, swim caps and goggles for the race gun to prompt us to charge the water, we share our stories of cancer. We cry, laugh, smile, hug and embrace one another.

Crossing the finish line is only part of the fight for ovarian cancer. For many women the battle continues. Please join my efforts to cure ovarian cancer for good by donating to Ovarian Cancer Research Fun.

See that big, blue DONATE button? Go on, hit it and support the cause!

Many, many thanks for your support!
