My Third Time Running the Distance for Suicide Prevention!
This year I am once again running the Boston Marathon with the Samaritans Marathon Team. This will be my third year running on behalf of this amazing organization. For those of you you don't know, Samaritans is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the incidence of suicide in Greater Boston and Metrowest. This issue is very important to me, and is one that often over-looked or stigmatized. Please help to raise much-needed funds and awareness for this worthy cause by making a donation today!
Thirteen runners will be participating in the Boston Marathon with the Samaritans Team on Monday, April 16, 2012. We have set a team goal of $75,000, and I committed to personally raising a minimum of $5000, although my "reach" goal is $7,500. The Samaritans organization, my teammates and I would greatly appreciate your financial support!
All proceeds generated from this year's team will benefit Samaritans' suicide prevention services including our 24-hour crisis helplines, which answered over 150,000 calls last year; our prevention services that provide hundreds of Community Education and Outreach workshops annually; and our Grief Support Services that provide support to thousands for those who have lost a loved on to suicide.
